After Gonzo, I graduated to teddy bears.  The first bears I made were a bit of a disaster. The eyes were not aligned very well, the embroidered noses left a lot to be desired and the joints became very loose. They definately have a character all of their own! Anyway I improved over time and became quite an expert that people started to ask me to make ‘special bears’ for them. I had donated dressed mohair bears to my childrens schools and the local orchestra. The school bears sit proudly in the trophy cabinets and have become mascots. The orchestra bear was raffled off in a fundraiser.

I still love making bears but I don’t have much time with working full-time night shift. They are quite time consuming but making them is still a delightful way to spend time.

My love of teddy bears continues in my website http://mystuffedteddy.com as I selected every single bear in every category myself based on quality, looks and value. The hardest decision to make is which bear to choose as I love all of them! The best way to select is to keep in mind who the bear is for. There is a big difference in buying for an adult, collector or a child. Safety is the most important point to consider when buying for a child.  Always check if the bear is suitable for a baby. Bears with glass eyes, wooden joints and made of mohair are usually for adults. Softer unjointed bears with safety eyes are suitable for children, but still check and remove any tags etc.
